FAQ

What is Yog?

Yog is an iPhone app that connects runners from around the world to run together in real-time.

Begin by creating a run of your own, or join a run created by someone else on Yog.

During any given run, audio placing notifications and an on-screen visualization display your position relative to others and simulate the experience of running right next to them. As you complete runs, you accrue medals to share your accomplishments and gather rich statistics on your performance.

How is Yog different from every other running app?

There are plenty of spectacular run-tracking apps on the market, but Yog is not one of them. Yog is an entirely new social running experience: a way for you to go for a run with other runners from all over the world, in real-time.

What kind of runner is Yog intended for?

Yog is suited for runners of all skill and experience levels. It doesn’t matter if you’re training for your 5th marathon (this year!) or coping with blisters from your first pair of running shoes - your Yog experience is built by you.

How do I go for a run on Yog?

You can do any one of the following to get going:
• Create a Run by selecting the distance (km/mi), date, time, music and other people you’d like to invite to go running
• Join a Run created by another runner on Yog

Can I listen to something other than music in my iPhone library while using Yog?

Absolutely. As your run is about to start, hit the home button on your iPhone, select the app you would like to listen from, click back into Yog and your chosen audio will be playing.

What is a “Practice” run?

Practice runs are individual runs you can begin at any time. You can still specify your music and distance, but no one else on Yog will be able to see or join your run

What is the difference between “Yoggers” and “Contacts”?

“Yoggers” is a list of your Facebook friends and members of your iPhone Contacts who are on Yog, as well as anyone you’ve gone for a run with in the past on Yog.

“Contacts” are the the members of your address book in your iPhone’s Contacts app who have not yet downloaded Yog.

How can I invite my friends to a run?

SMS, email, Twitter, or Facebook to name a few. Anywhere links can be shared, so too can invitations to go running on Yog.

Can I invite my friends to a run even if they don’t have Yog?

Yep. Once your friend clicks your invitation they will be automatically sent to the app store to download Yog. Once they’ve download the app and created an account, they will see your invitation.

Can I invite my friends to a run I didn’t create?

Yep. Click on the run you would like to invite your friends to in the “Scheduled” tab, swipe to the left in the participants carousel, click “Invite” and select the friends you’d like to add from your “Yoggers” and/or “Contacts” list...

Can I edit a run once I’ve already created it?

Yep. All runs are editable up until 15 minutes of their scheduled start time. If you do decide to make changes, anyone that has joined your run will be automatically notified.

Can I make my runs private?

Yep. In the “Settings” screen toggle “Make Runs Private” to “On”. Once you’ve done this, only people who you invite directly will be able to see/join your runs.

Who can see my past runs?

Just you.

Does Yog support Imperial and Metric units?

Yep. You can choose between the two in “Settings”.

How do I delete a run?

Simply swipe to the left on any run you’ve created or join in the “Schedule” screen.

What is the maximum number of runners that can be in one run at a time?

20 for now, but each day we're improving our infrastructure to support more concurrent runners. Expect more updates on this very soon.
